Buhari Withhold your assent from CCB, CCT amendment bill – Group tells Buhari
October 28, 2016
The Centre for the Vulnerable and Underprivileged, CENTREP, Friday, requested President Muhammadu Buhari to withhold his assent from the Code of Conduct (Amendment) Bill 2016.
In a statement CENTREP Executive Director, Mr. Oghenejabor Ikimi argued that the passage of the bill which empowered the National Assembly to take over power to appoint staff of the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB and the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT is tantamount to a political amendment.
CENTREP described the amendment as an exercise tainted with malice, especially as it came at a time when the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki was facing trial at the CCT.
